A special mass to celebrate the Canonization of Monsignor Bernard J. Quinn the founder of the Church of St Peter Claver on Claver Pl. was held at the church this afternoon. He was a defender of the rights of Brooklyn's Black citizens from his ordination in 1912 until his death in 1940. He also founded the Little Flower Children's Services of Long Island. . The mass was attended by churches in the area diocese. During the service ceremonial rituals were followed.
