A special mass to celebrate the Canonization of Monsignor Bernard J. Quinn the founder of the Church of St Peter Claver on Claver Pl. was held at the church this afternoon. He was a defender of the rights of Brooklyn's Black citizens from his ordination in 1912 until his death in 1940.  He also founded the Little Flower Children's Services of Long Island.  .   Today's mass was attended by churches in the area diocese.  A procession entering the church is led by Bishop Guy Sansaricq, with altar boys following.

More than 2,500 Chabad-Lubavitch rabbinical emissaries and communal leaders from 70 countries, hailing from as far as the Congo and Nepal, are gathering for their annual convention .These rabbinical emissaries  are willing to pick up their families and move literally anywhere in the world to bring their fellow Jews closer to Judaism. . The movement's leader, the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson passed awayin 1995.
